MEDiate Project webinar at the Europe and Central Asia Regional Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction 2024 in Montenegro

The MEDiate project participated in the Europe and Central Asia Regional Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR), took place in November 2024 in Montenegro. This forum reviewed progress on the EFDRR Roadmap for Disaster Risk Reduction 2021–2030 and strengthen the capacities of authorities and stakeholders to accelerate the implementation of the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction 2015–2030.

 

The regional platform which has been held every three years is a key event for addressing regional disaster risk challenges. It brought together representatives from 55 Member States, alongside stakeholders from civil society, the private sector, and international organisations, to promote knowledge-sharing and establish concrete commitments to risk reduction. The 2024 edition was hosted by the Government of Montenegro in collaboration with the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR), with support from UNDP, the European Commission, and the Council of Europe.

 

As part of the regional platform programme, mediate organised an online webinar titled “multi-hazard and risk-informed system for enhanced local and regional disaster risk management” on 14 october 2024. The webinar was moderated by the MEDiate Project Coordinator, with contributions from project partners and external experts. In addition, MEDiate was present with a marketplace booth, by providing promotional material showcased the project’s tools, approaches, and initiatives on disaster risk reduction and climate change adaptation. This presence fostered collaboration and innovation, also facilitated an interactive dialogue and engage stakeholders in MEDiate’s solutions.
